Whenever you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific service provider. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that handles the emails for that specific Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are typically considered to be one thing, when they are actually two different services. Having independent records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you'd like. As an illustration, some new provider might have superb uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an e-mail - in either case, the provider whose name servers are used for the domain name will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed website or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting we provide, allows you to view, change and create A and MX records for every Internet domain or subdomain inside your account. From the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, as an example, you wish to use the e-mail services of a different company and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. Through our innovative tool, you're going to be able to handle the records of your domains and subdomains easily even when you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domain addresses or subdomains is incredibly easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are maintained via our in-house built Hepsia CP, which includes a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on each of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not experience any troubles if you choose to move your site or e-mails to some other provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you could also create additional MX records and set a specific priority in accordance with the recommendations of the new provider.
